On 30 April 2008, Lucía Garrido was found dead in the swimming pool of a farm in Alhaurín de la Torre, Málaga. The property belonged to her ex-partner, who kept exotic animals confiscated by the Guardia Civil. Within months, the case was closed.
For Rosa, Lucía's sister, that was not the end. Refusing to accept the official verdict, she began a years-long fight for justice, aided by a former civil guard willing to expose the failures of the original investigation. What they uncovered reached far beyond a single unsolved death, pointing toward a criminal network of drug trafficking, arms dealing, and institutional corruption along Spain's Costa del Sol, one serious enough that the Guardia Civil's own Internal Affairs Service launched an operation they called "Operation Spider's Web."
The series draws on new testimonies and previously unpublished documents, and marks the first time the Guardia Civil's Internal Affairs Service has appeared on Spanish television. It is anchored not by reconstructions but by the people closest to the case, giving the investigation a human weight that sustains it across two seasons.
Recognised at the World Media Festival Hamburg and nominated for the Prix Europa, this is a serious work of documentary journalism about a murder that remains unanswered.
