Cactus

Each week, the news cycle gets a second look, this time through the lens of comedy. Cactus is a Belgian satirical talk show format built around two charismatic hosts who guide audiences through the major stories of the week, from Belgian politics to global headlines, using parody, mock interviews, and sharp comic observation.

Stand-up comedians take on recurring roles as politicians, celebrities, and public figures, lending the format a cast of characters that audiences come to recognise and anticipate. The result is something between a news review and a live comedy show, grounded enough in real events to feel relevant, and playful enough to make the news genuinely enjoyable.

No story is too serious, no public figure too prominent, and no viral moment too fleeting to escape the programme's attention. The tone is irreverent without being cynical, and the format has proven durable, running on RTBF since 2015.

For broadcasters and platforms looking to adapt a format with a strong structural spine, a flexible cast framework, and a clear audience appetite, Cactus offers a reliable template. The original production demonstrates that weekly topical comedy, when anchored by the right presenting duo, can build a loyal and engaged viewership over time.
