Six party representatives. One hundred young voters. A political debate reimagined entirely by the logic of a game show.
In The Powerwall, politicians cannot hide behind long speeches or deflect with rehearsed answers. They must press a buzzer to take the floor, respond to questions on education, environment, health, or housing within a strict time limit, and face an immediate verdict: did they convince the wall of young voters facing them, or didn't they? The result is visible instantly, each light in the audience corresponding to a real vote.
The format moves through three escalating rounds. The first tests individual candidates under pressure. The second pits them against each other in direct confrontation. The third opens the floor to intervention, with rivals able to buzz in at any moment to challenge what's being said.
Produced by RTBF in Belgium and first broadcast in 2019, a new edition aired in prime time in 2024, drawing a 21.4% audience share and ranking first that evening. The show's success reflects something genuine: a growing appetite, particularly among younger audiences, for political accountability that is transparent, timed, and measurable.
The Powerwall is a format built for adaptation. Its rules are simple. The tension it creates is real.
