Across 32 episodes, this Belgian documentary series travels the globe in search of something often overlooked in wildlife filmmaking: the relationships between species rather than the spectacle of individual animals. From Antarctica's ice-bound shores to the forests of Colombia, the deserts of Namibia to the volcanic landscapes of Iceland, each episode visits a distinct ecosystem and asks how radically different creatures manage to coexist, cooperate, and occasionally surprise one another.
Director and wildlife photographer Tanguy Dumortier guides much of the series, spending hours, sometimes days, concealed in hides or waiting in extreme conditions for a fleeting encounter with a well-hidden animal. That patience is part of the story. The series is candid about the effort behind the footage, giving viewers a sense of the fieldwork involved without turning the camera on itself excessively.
The tone is observational and unhurried. Capybaras sharing space with other species in Colombia, the slow rehabilitation of whale populations in Antarctic waters, the sole native mammal of Iceland tracked across a frozen north: each episode functions as a distinct movement in a longer, quieter argument about cohabitation on a shared planet.
Produced by Clair Obscur Productions and RTBF, the series spans production years 2018 to 2025.
