The Pillars Of Time

Spain's architectural heritage holds more secrets than its stones let on. This documentary series, presented by architect Leonor Martín and historian Lidia San José, uses LIDAR technology and 3D scanning to reveal what centuries of history have concealed inside the country's most extraordinary monuments.

From the Alhambra and the Mosque of Córdoba to prehistoric caves and Roman military structures, each episode takes a specific site and opens it up, exposing hidden chambers, hydraulic systems, underground passages, and the architectural logic that shaped these spaces. Virtual reconstructions allow viewers to pass through walls, section buildings, and explore areas never accessible to the naked eye.

The series moves fluidly between architecture and biography. Figures such as Salvador Dalí, Alfonso X, Philip V, and the Princess of Eboli are brought into close focus, their lives and choices illuminated through the monuments they inhabited or commissioned. The buildings become evidence, and history becomes something you can almost touch.
