Spain has seen its share of violent crime, but some cases leave behind questions that go far beyond motive. This investigative documentary series revisits real murders from the past two decades, each one connected in some way to the esoteric fringes of Spanish society: voodoo rituals, tarot, secretive sects, and the strange subcultures that form around role-playing games.
The cases range from those that gripped national headlines to others that never quite broke through, yet are no less disturbing. Figures like the False Shaolin, the Katana Killer, and the Majadahonda Dismemberer are examined in detail, their stories reconstructed through dramatic recreation and grounded in testimony from witnesses, investigators, and specialists who help untangle the belief systems at play.
What the series does well is hold two things in tension: the forensic rigour of a criminal investigation and the genuine strangeness of worlds most viewers know nothing about. These are not crimes explained by greed or jealousy alone. Something darker and harder to categorise sits at the centre of each episode.
Produced by Atlantia Media and directed across its eighteen episodes by Amparo Miralles, Chema Rodriguez, and Enrique Campo, the series offers acquisitions partners a well-constructed true crime format with a distinctive, atmospheric identity.
