Boundless

In August 1519, five ships carrying 237 men left the coast of Spain on a mission to find a western route to the Spice Islands. Three years later, only 18 returned. One ship survived.

Boundless dramatises the first circumnavigation of the Earth, following Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan and Basque sailor Juan Sebastián Elcano across uncharted waters and into one of history's most punishing voyages. Directed by Simon West and starring Rodrigo Santoro as Magellan and Álvaro Morte as Elcano, the series tracks the evolving relationship between two men whose ambitions, tensions, and courage would shape the course of exploration.

The expedition faced mutinies, brutal weather, and confrontations far from any possibility of rescue. Magellan would not live to see its completion. The burden of bringing the fleet home fell to Elcano, a man who had once stood against his commander and would ultimately carry his legacy.

Produced with a budget of 25 million dollars, making it the largest independent production in Spanish television history, the series reconstructs the 16th-century world with considerable visual ambition. Written by Miguel Menéndez de Zubillaga and Patxi Amezcua, Boundless is a six-part limited series produced by RTVE and Amazon Prime Video.
