Bitter Daisies

Eva Mayo has one goal: to find out what happened to her sister. Impersonating a National Police inspector, she arrives in the rural Galician town of Muriás under a borrowed identity, ostensibly to investigate the disappearance of seventeen-year-old Marta Labrada. But the case quickly reveals something far darker than a missing teenager.

Beneath the surface of a close-knit community, Eva uncovers blackmail, exploitation, and a network of abuse involving figures who should be above suspicion. Her investigation moves with quiet menace through compromised institutions, hidden crimes, and the particular cruelty of small-town secrecy.

Season two finds Eva psychologically fractured, released from prison and drawn into a sex trafficking ring linked to a series of murders modelled on Dante's Inferno. The stakes are no longer local. The corruption runs deep into positions of power, and Eva herself is losing her grip on where justice ends and vengeance begins.

Shot in Galician and winner of the Mestre Mateo Award for Best TV Series, Bitter Daisies is a slow-burn procedural anchored by a morally complex protagonist who carries her own guilt into every room she enters. The landscape is beautiful. What lies beneath it is not.
