On the night of his 18th birthday, Cédric gets into a devastating car accident with his childhood friend Sarah, who is left severely disabled. Two families, once close, are suddenly on opposite sides of a medical, legal, and emotional battle with no clear end in sight.
Freely inspired by real events that made headlines in 2010, Pour Sarah is a ten-part French-language drama from Quebec that follows both families as they fight to survive the aftermath and, gradually, to understand what really happened that night. The accident, it turns out, has opened a door onto a world of secrets: drugs, drinking, infidelity, self-harm. Parents find themselves drawn into the hidden lives of their children, confronting truths about their own community and themselves.
The story centres on Sarah and her father Luc, whose relationship becomes the emotional core of the series as they move through grief and recovery together. The series reveals the full picture of that night slowly, across all ten episodes, withholding just enough to hold the tension taut.
Winner of Best Francophone Series at the Banff World Media Festival, the series attracted a 37% market share on TVA, was adapted by TF1 in France, and was later licensed to Netflix Canada.
