Stilltown

In the 1990s, the Belgian industrial town of Gravines is already fracturing — the MTLK factory has closed, and the community built around it is struggling to hold together. When Clémence Rosier's young son Benjamin is found dead and the investigation goes nowhere, she is left with grief and no answers. Three years pass. Then Stella, Benjamin's closest friend, disappears.

Convinced the two cases are connected, Clémence forms an uneasy alliance with Antonio D'Ambrosio, a factory worker who was once the prime suspect in her son's death. Their only lead is a notebook the children left behind, filled with hand-drawn Tarot cards. As they work to decode the symbols, a disturbing pattern emerges: the cards don't merely reflect what happened. They seem to have anticipated it.

Stilltown is a six-part Belgian crime series directed by Michèle Jacob, set against a period of economic collapse and social fracture that gives the mystery its texture and weight. The investigation forces two people from opposite sides of a divided town to confront their assumptions about each other and about the community they thought they knew. The danger, it becomes clear, has never really left Gravines.
