Five years after two eleven-year-old girls vanish from the Pyrenean village of Monteperdido, one of them reappears. She can say almost nothing about the man who held her. He wore a mask. The other girl may still be out there.
This is where La Caza begins, with a case cracked open rather than solved, in a community whose silences have hardened over years of grief and suspicion. Investigators Sara Campos and Santiago Baín must press into those silences, knowing that the answers they need may be the ones the village most wants to keep buried.
Across three seasons, the anthology format carries Sara and her colleagues into new locations and new crimes. In Mallorca, a colleague's disappearance inside her own active investigation turns the search inward. In a southern border town, a massacre from twelve years ago resurfaces when the woman it seemed to circle finally vanishes herself.
Each case is self-contained, rooted in a distinct Spanish landscape, and driven by the same structural logic: what appears to be one mystery contains another. The procedural framework holds, but it is the psychological pressure on both investigators and communities that gives the series its particular tension. Winner of Best Miniseries at FesTVal 2019.
