Life in a Belgian nursing home turns out to be far more vivid, funny, and surprising than anyone on the outside might expect. Created by Sara De Paduwa and Mathieu Debaty and directed by Joachim Weissmann, Home is a French-language short-form comedy series that follows the residents and staff of a retirement home through the small dramas, unexpected friendships, and daily absurdities that shape their lives together.
Two newcomers anchor the story: Nicole, a reluctant new resident with strong opinions about her situation, and Arthur, the director's son stumbling through his first shift as a caregiver. Around them, a colourful ensemble of staff and residents brings warmth, friction, and genuine surprise to every episode.
Shot in a real nursing home with actual residents among the cast, the series carries an authenticity that gives its humour real weight. The comedy is sharp but never unkind. The tenderness is earned, not assumed.
Home pushes back against familiar assumptions about ageing, not through sentiment or lecture, but simply by showing these people as they are: complicated, funny, opinionated, and very much alive. Produced by RTBF, Octopods Films, and Shelter Prod, it is Belgian public broadcasting comedy at its most human.
