Forest Survivors

The Nordic winter is unforgiving. Temperatures plunge, snow buries the forest floor for months, and survival demands more than endurance. In the Finnish wilderness, the animals that make it through are those with the sharpest instincts and the most carefully laid plans.

Directed by Jari Salonen and produced by NaturPro Films, Forest Survivors follows the wildlife of the Finnish forest across all four seasons. Tiny cameras, concealed within moss and the forest itself, capture behaviour that would otherwise remain completely hidden from view. A squirrel preparing its winter stores. Birds adapting to shifting conditions. The quiet, determined strategies that allow life to persist through some of the coldest months on earth.

There is no presenter, no narration driving an agenda. The approach is purely observational, letting the animals and their environment speak for themselves. What emerges is a portrait of resilience that feels both intimate and vast.

For acquisitions teams looking for single-documentary wildlife content with strong visual quality and a clear, accessible premise, Forest Survivors offers a window into a world that few people ever see at this proximity. Finnish nature in all its severity and beauty, seen from the inside.
