Brussels, February 1984. When firefighters respond to a blaze at an abandoned mushroom farm in Auderghem, they find the body of Christine Van Hees, sixteen years old, in the basement. Nobody has been convicted of her murder. Nobody ever will be, unless something changes.
Forty years on, this Belgian documentary revisits one of the country's most disturbing cold cases, drawing on archival footage, dramatised reconstructions, and exclusive testimony from those closest to Christine to retrace the original investigation in full. What emerges is a portrait of a case that generated more questions than answers.
The leads pursued over the decades are extraordinary in their breadth: the Brussels punk scene, a satanic cult, Marc Dutroux, the Brabant Killers. Each thread was followed, and each went cold. The film examines how and why, looking carefully at decisions made and evidence left unresolved.
Produced by RTBF and LouvignyMedia, the documentary offers new details about the case for the first time, revealed through people who have carried this loss for decades. It is precise, serious, and deeply unsettling in the way that only real events can be. Christine Van Hees has never had justice. This film asks why.
