For the supporters of Union Saint-Gilloise, football is not a pastime. It is a commitment passed down through families, sustained through decades of disappointment, and celebrated with a warmth that has become the club's defining character.
Directed by Didier Hill-Derive and Éric Loze, this observational documentary spent the 2021–2022 season inside Stade Marien, the spiritual home of Saint-Gillois football in Brussels. The film follows seven supporters — Fabrizio, Joachim, Noé, Arsène, Dylan, Natasha, and Roger — each carrying their own relationship with the club, each embodying something larger than themselves.
Their stories frame a remarkable moment in the club's history. After 48 years in the lower divisions, Union Saint-Gilloise has returned to Division 1. For the fans who never stopped believing, it is a reckoning with time itself.
The film is not interested in tactics or transfers. Its subject is loyalty. The kind that fills a stadium on a cold Tuesday, that holds through losing seasons, that does not require winning to justify itself.
Shot with quiet attentiveness, the documentary offers acquisitions professionals a portrait of football as community — diverse, generous, deeply rooted — told through the voices of people who have given the game something it rarely deserves: unconditional faith.
