In the vineyards of La Rioja, two winemaking dynasties have long maintained an uneasy coexistence. The Cortázars, led by the authoritarian patriarch Don Vicente, treat wine as a business to be conquered. The Revertes, headed by the steadfast Doña Sofía, see the land itself as something closer to a vocation.
That fragile peace collapses when Miguel, the Cortázar heir and director of the family winery, survives an assassination attempt that strips him of his memory. The man who resurfaces is barely recognisable, and the questions surrounding who pulled the trigger, and why, draw every character into a web of suspicion, buried grievances, and long-hidden secrets.
Gran Reserva is a richly layered Spanish primetime drama built on character rather than plot mechanics. Family loyalty, inheritance, betrayal, and romantic entanglement all press against one another as the two dynasties fight for control, identity, and survival. Decades-old secrets begin to surface. Old wounds refuse to heal.
The series ran for three seasons between 2010 and 2013, produced by Bambú Producciones and RTVE. It received Ondas and Iris Award recognition, including Best Actor honours for Emilio Gutiérrez Caba. The cast also features Tristán Ulloa, Paula Echevarría, and Francesc Garrido.
