Sweet Street

A street is more than an address. In this Belgian docu-soap format, each episode takes the name of a real street as its starting point and follows it into the lives of the people who inhabit it — shopkeepers, residents, passers-by with stories worth stopping for.

The streets are chosen for what their names suggest: Love, Peace, Paradise. These words become the lens through which six to eight protagonists are observed across each episode, their lives intercut and layered by a narrator whose voice holds the whole thing together. The narration is not merely descriptive. It moves between the individual and the collective, drawing connections that the subjects themselves might never see, and finding in the ordinary something quietly revelatory.

Produced by RTBF and Triangle 7, Sweet Street works through accumulation. Intimate moments, small revelations, the texture of daily life on a named stretch of road. The concept is simple enough to travel, specific enough to feel real.

As a format, it offers broadcasters a flexible and repeatable structure adaptable to any city, any street, any culture where people live close together and carry their lives with them. The emotional register is warm without being sentimental, curious without being intrusive.
