Twin Energy

Twelve-year-old twins Teemu and Anni have enough to contend with when their parents announce they are divorcing. Then a mysterious substance leaks from a nearby chemical factory, and the siblings discover something stranger still: when they argue, objects around them begin to fall apart.

The guilt sets in quickly. One of their fights preceded the announcement. Could they have caused it? And if their powers work that way, could they be turned to something better, something like putting their family back together?

Finnish writer Vilja Autiokyrö's short-form series for children aged 8 to 12 builds its drama from a premise that is both fantastical and emotionally grounded. The supernatural element is not decoration. It is an extension of what sibling conflict actually feels like, the sense that the wrong argument at the wrong moment can shatter something irreparably. As Teemu and Anni try to manage their abilities, their family, a new and unwelcome adult in their father's life, and the scrutiny of the chemical factory itself, the series keeps its emotional stakes clear and its tone light enough to hold a young audience without softening what the story is really about.
